The new version 4.0 now works GREAT on Snow Leopard!!!
Three beta testers had a very strange error message relating to the Mono framework installer. I also had the same error when installing it on a friend's 10.5 Leopard computer. This helped us pinpoint the problem. (Most folks had no problem at all.)
When Marty, our chief programmer, uninstalled the Mono framework from his test machine yesterday and started completely over with a fresh install, he saw the same error! As a result, he was able to dig deeper and look inside the code of the Mono installer and figure out how things were being handled and where it was messing up. We are still not sure why some folks had a problem while the vast majority of beta testers did not!
Everything is now fixed and the FINAL beta disc is being mailed out to us tomorrow. We will send it to all the beta testers for one last final go-round. If you would like to be a beta tester of v4.0, please send us your mailing address:

Version 4.0 is designed to run on Windows 7, Vista, XP and Mac OS X 10.6, 10.5 and 10.4
Version 4.0 comes on one DVD disc -- so you need a DVD drive (the old CD-ROM drives will not read the DVD disc).
If all goes well, we should be ready to begin selling version 4.0 on May 15th or sooner.

 The version 4 disc was sent to the manufacturer tonight. We will receive finished discs back on Thursday, May 13th. We will be mailing out these discs on Friday, May 14th. This version works great on Snow Leopard!

Regarding the $15 upgrade to v.4 mentioned in the newsletter you just sent out, how should we make out the check? Just to "Thayer Birding Software"? |
