I believe it was version 3 that had back and forward buttons for moving back to the last bird profile viewed. I used these buttons quite a bit but they seem to be missing from version 3.5. Is there a chance we could get these back?

We are including buttons in the new vesion 3.6  that will let you move quickly to the next bird or the previous bird on the list. You can also jump to the first or last bird on the list. Here is what they look like (they are the blue arrows on the right).

You can list the birds eight different ways: Taxonomic or Alphabetic order can be selected. Then within those two choices you can see Common Name, Common Name (last, first), Scientific Name or Scientific Name (last, first). So, depending on which of the 8 ways you sort the list, the next or previous species will be different.

We are also adding a feature that lets you open multiple Field Guides at once. The tabs display the bird's name. That way you can easily jump back and forth between the birds that you want to study.

We are still aiming for a late June release of version 3.6

But it will not be released until it is ready. We have been doing beta testing and there are a few things we still have to fix.

It is nice that those buttons are back! I was just thinking though that it would be really nice if there was a button that would take you to a random bird. That way you could spend some time with the program every day and read about different species every time.

Rob, that is a great idea! No one ever mentioned that before! And I thought I had heard all the good ideas.

I have added that to the to-do list for the next major update.

I guess 3.9.6 still is not considered a major update?
