We will be releasing v3.9.8 and v5.0.2 updates for Windows in about two weeks. To get these, simply open your birding program and click Help and then click Check for Updates. (Do this twice)

There are a number of improvements:

1. We finally fixed the bug that would suddenly (and randomly) make just 25 birds appear!! This has been driving us crazy for months! If this bug is a problem for you, get the fix right now -- click here

2. There are 9 new songs included in the free update. Some birds now have more than one song file.



3. We improved the ID Wizard -- you may now right-click on a bird's name appearing on the right side of the ID Wizard and jump to the eField Guide page for that bird.

4. For version 5 we fixed the House Sparrow range map. The newer range map is on the DVD -- the database just pointed the program to the wrong map. The database has been corrected.

5. Custom Lists created using Birds of My Sate can now be imported into programs running Guide to Birds of North America. We were stunned to discover that this could not be done before! Hey, we can't fix it if we don't know it is broken! Thanks to all the kind folks that take the time to email Pete@ThayerBirding.com to tell me about problems they discover when using the program -- we appreciate it.

6. Exports to iPods were displaying incorrect images with the sound files. Also, you could not export the name as Last, First. This has been corrected. This bug had a LOT more to do with iTunes than it did with us -- our data was exporting to iTunes perfectly. When we tried to provide more information on each sound file in v3.9.6 and v5.0.0 it messed up more things than it fixed -- so we are going back to the way things were before. However, we do label each song with "Bird Song" as the genre.

7. Some photographer credits were incorrect in v5.0.0. These have been fixed.

8. Minor corrections were made to the Painted Bunting and Goshawk Identification Tips.

9. Two new Quizzes have been created for v5.0.2 users: U.S. Presidents and State Names & Capitals. Go here to download them for free. We created these to show you the amazing potential of version 5 (Gold edition). You can make your own quizzes like this. We will also be offering other quizzes in the future.
