Thayer and Ipod

O.K. it is finally Christmas. Santa has brought me the Thayer 3.9 and a new IPod. Actually it is an Ipod want to be called a Zune but still an Ipod.

Question is how many trial and error hours will I spend getting my bird list with photos onto the Ipod?

Any "how to help" is welcome.

Question 1. I wish to add my list in such a manner that I can play one bird song at a time without the Ipod continuing to auto play the next bird song in the list.

Question 2. Attaching the photo to the song. Is this possible?

Question 3. Must I re-invent the wheel or is this list available already from this site.

Thank You

Goat

Isn't Santa great!, he too brought me the Thayer 3.9 and a new Zune.

I seem to have the same problem you have as stated in Question 2. Any help in attaching the photo to the song would be greaatly appreciated. Is this a Zune issue?

Thank You, Maya

OK...after a few hours of working with the Zune, I found it best to keep the file in the Windows Media Player format when adding the file to the Zune playlist. This way I insured the bird picture was embedded in the sound file. Unfortunatly, there seems to be a  problem with the Zune being able to associate the "Thayer" sound file with the album art (bird picture). In order to overcome this, you will have to individualy edit each file, and manualy enter the (bird name) as the (album name). After doing this the Zune understands which picture belongs with a particular sound file, and should exhibit the correct photo with the associated sound file.

I'm planning on buying an iPod and Thayer's new version of North American Birds. The version I have is V2.5 and I don't have any trouble with it. I'm worried if I buy the new version and an Ipod (so I can take it in the woods with me) I'll just wind up with all kinds of problems. You know, "If it ain't broke..."

Does anyone have a MP3 player or an iPod with Thayer downloaded on it? If so, what kind and is it difficult to do. My computer experience is limited. Thanks.

The new v3.9 Thayer CD-ROM is easily able to download songs and images to an iPhone or iPod. I have both and it took just a few minutes. It works great in the field with a small speaker from Radio Shack.

See the video tutorial about this at:

I added the sound and pictures onto a Walkman mp3 player with no trouble.  I used Real Player to import songs.

My sweetheart bought me an Ipod nano and the 3.9 version of the birding software for my birthday in May.  We have the North American Bird version and I love it!!!!  I have made up a custom list for my Backyard birds, Illinois birds, Vacation birds and I am having so much fun.  I have recently purchased and Iskin to protect my Ipod nano and it has flowers and butterflies on it, so cool.  Also purchased a Memorex Speaker/battery backup system to be able to take it in the field, in the yard where ever.  It has great speakers and it continually backs up my ipod as I use it.  It runs off a cable or 4 AA batteries perfect for inside or outside..  It is light, easy to carry handle and small enough to go anywhere.  Walmart and very reasonable.  I am spending time calling birds by using this, sit in my yard listening to it .  I was calling cardinals the other day with it and my cardinal that comes to the yard was so curious, very cool.  Thank you Thayer for such wonderful software!!!  The ipod and speaker system work perfect with the software and I get hours of enjoyment.  Best birthday and mothers day gift.  I am recommending it to my friends.

I have an ITouch, and it works well for playing downloaded birdsongs with V3.9 except that I do have the problem of the Itouch continuing to auto play the next bird song in the list. I've tried fiddling with the ITouch settings, but no luck so far. Has anyone figured out the trick to get it to automatically replay the same bird song or stop at the end of the song instead of going on to the next bird? The regular Itouch settings for repeating songs don't seem to have any effect.
