I noticed that this update is no longer available on the website. I am currently at 3.5.2, and I have no major problems with the software at this time. I do however like to keep up-to-date with my software. I also see where you will be issueing v3.6 in April to address some of the Vista problems. Will this supercede the v3.5.4 update?

I have noticed one small problem with using the quiz feature of the software. When I complete one of the flash card quizzes, and start  into another, the picture of the bird partially overwrites the bird name in the bottom left corner, to resolve the problem I have to minimize the quiz and the maximize the quiz. Is this related to my desktop resolution setting (currently set at 1024x768)?  or is it an issue resolved by an update?

Thanks for listening .

Larry

PS. I am very happy with BNA so far and I am using it more and more often.

Hi Larry,

The 3.5.4 update is not yet available on the new website. We are working with our new web host to get this resolved as soon as possible.

For security reasons, they will not let us offer a download with an .exe extension. We may have to provide the file in a zipped format.

In any event, we should have this resolved in the next few days -- just part of the growing pains when you move to a new web host and server, I guess.

By the way, we have the same problem with the v3.1 "Register and Unlock" free download. It is also temporarily unavailable. It too should be available by this weekend.

The quiz problem you mention is not one we have heard about. Try upgrading to version 3.5.4 and see if there is any difference. It is possible that your settings could be causing the problem -- but I doubt it (I have the same settings on my computer). It may have more to do with your video card than anything else. Perhaps there are new drivers available for it.

The version 3.6 will be written in .NET rather than VB6. So it will not be possible to upgrade the 3.5.4 version to v3.6. We are working on a policy for those who would like to get v3.6. However, there is virtually no difference in the program itself between v3.5.4 and v3.6 - they both do the same thing and look about the same. But v3.6 will work on Vista. V3.6 will also be available for Mac computers. We are hoping for an April release date.

Thanks for the "Swift" reply.

I'll wait patiently for the update to become available.

As for the picture overlap problem...it's more of a nuisance than a problem. I can live with it.

The 3.5.4 update has been available for a week or so. Also, the version 3.1.2 users can download a file that makes it unnecessary to register the program.

Look Under "Get Help" - Free Downloads

Thanks for your patience.

FIRST: Wonderful software. Why is it that when I try to re-install BNA I always have problems? This time, after installing VISTA, I re-installed BNA and updated the latest (3.5.4) downloads.
After downloading and installing it, I try to run BNA and get an error message as follows:
This application has generated the following unexpected error.
"Error#:3420 Messagebjectinvalid or no longer set.
Location:modMaim:Main0"
Unexpected errors can be caused by a lack of available memory or disk space, failing hardware, a corrupted installation, or software errors among other reasons. Because the state of the computer is now in question, this application will automatically close.
Please visit the technical support web page at thayerbirding .com for further instructions.

Ultimately, I end up here, on the forums page, posting a new problem with installing on to VISTA, as there is no mention of this error message elsewhere.
I have to say, generally, I always dread re-registering this product, as it is NEVER straightforward and I am without access to the progam for a couple of weeks (at least) before the matter can be resolved.
Question really is: did no-one know that VISTA was coming along? The forum shows a reply stating a solution to some VISTA problems will be available. Apparently, the solution/s have been available for a week now. The 'solution' appears to have caused a problem.
I am, obviously going to try AGAIN to re-install the 3.5 version and then try to get the latest downloads.
I strongly suspect I will be returning here with a similar question to the one above.
The software's great, beyond expectations and I LOVE IT. Why does re-installation always have to be such a chore?

The v3.5.4 was created a year before Vista was released. We are working very hard to release a Vista version (v3.9) by the first week in July.

The version 3.5 of our software did not require registration and neither does version 3.9.

We do suggest that folks sign up for the Newsletter so they can find ou when new features are available.
