Recently I received from you the MAC version of Thayer's Guide to Birds of North America. I cannot get it to work even though all the instructions indicate that it should work on my computer. I have a MAC with 10.3.9 software. The bird software seems to load on my computer ok and the blue bird icon appears. However, when I click on that icon nothing happens. I have reloaded the software several times with the same result.

10.3.9 is the earliest version of the Mac operating system that will work with our software. Please visit the "Get Help" section of this web site and submit a Help Desk ticket. We will have the technicians take a look at this problem. So far we have not heard of others with this issue. By the way, we released a free update to Mac v3.9.1 earlier today. Click the Get Help tab above and select Free Downloads -- Mac 3.9.2 Update. The update lets folks run the software on OS X 10.4.11. There were no other changes to the way the program works.

hi i just recently got the BNA thayer birding software i am having the exact same problem but i have the 3.5 version for windows xp, i installed the software perfectly but when i try to open it by clicking on the icon, a dialogue appears with this text "unexpected error , error 339 message component 'Comdgl32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered a file is missing or invalid, location:modMain:Main()" i unistall it and install it again several times but still the problem, can you help me ?? thanks pete

There is a Knowledgebase article on Error 339 and Comdgl32.ocx. The solution is complex and should not be undertaken unless you are very good with computers. This is a very unusual problem and appeared only in v3.5. The better solution is to upgrade to v3.9. There is a 20% loyal customer discount for folks who own v3.5. Call 800-865-2473 to order.

I have the new Mac version on two computers one running 10.4.11 and the other 10.5. With the updates it is working great! I really love the product and the ability to add pictures to the comments section although the directions to add pictures isn't quite right but it was a simple fix to get it right. Love the sightings report although I think a nice additional feature would be to manually be able to add locations within the states instead of just a state and then adding the specific location in the state to the location. And I just learn that from getting deeper into what the program has to offer. I use the lists that can be generated from the sightings report to send to ABA for species reporting. Love it!
