I have GBNA version 3 and Birders Diary version 3 as well (world editions).  I know that as of version 3 the two programs shared the same sightings database.  I would like to upgrade my version of GBNA, but NOT Birders Diary.  Will I wind up losing all my sightings or will I be able to import them into the latest version of GBNA?

Also, if I decide to continue to use Birders Diary version 3 - are the database sightings STILL shared & will this louse up all my data?

Thank you.

You can upgrade Guide to Birds of North America (GBNA) to version 3.9 without messing up Birder's Diary. The two no longer share a common database.

You might also want to visit www.Birdersdiary.com and get the latest update offered there.

Since the formats and databases are different, you cannot copy Birder's Diary sightings into GBNA any more. For those who care about their Life Lists, we highly recommend Birder's Diary.

You might also want to ask Jeff Jones this question in the Birder's Diary Forums at www.birdersdiary.com.
