I have watching and waiting for the Mac version of N.American Birding to release and today came home to a message from Wild Birds Unlimited saying "IT"S IN"!!!!! Wahooo Imagine my disappointment when I checked the specs and learned the software does not support 10.4.11 much less Leopard and that 10.4.11 will be the first release and info says next couple of days without mentioning of release for Leopard. Given I have followed for release ever since April. Of course I am well aware that every month since April the information was changed to read for a release date of the next month. Here it is 8 months later and it finally released but too little too late and my interest is quickly waning!!!

Apple really threw us a curve by releasing OS X 10.4.11 as we were printing the first batch of CD-ROMs.

The free update for the Mac is now available. Install this and you will be able to run our birding software on OS X 10.4.11.

We knew there might be problems with Leopard, so the box only lists OS X 10.3 and 10.4 in the system requirements.

However, we have been woking non-stop on the update (or new CD???) for 10.5 "Leopard" and we hope to have an answer in a few weeks.  Obviously, after spending this much time and effort, we are not going to stop at 10.4!!

I'm back and received my Mac version today, installed from the disk downloaded the update and am soooo happy I am up in running in Leopard. Have poked around and started the process of becoming familiar with the software. List to make, pictures to add and birds and more birds to see. Thanks so much for the rapid update for Leopard!

To summarize:

Our Mac version works on all OS X from 10.3.9 through 10.5.2

If your Mac program opens and you see that you are running v3.9.1, then go here for the free update to 3.9.3:  Free 3.9.3

Everyone should be running v3.9.4.
If you are not, then open your program, click help and click Check for Updates.
Install the program that is automatically downloaded from the Internet.

THEN REPEAT until your computer says you are running v3.9.4. This appears on the start-up Splash Screen. You can also click Help - About to see which version you are running.

(If you have OS X 10.3.9 and you cannot get the program to work,
go here for the free fix.)
