My wife and I are novice birders who have a hard time figuring out what bird we are looking at quite often. It would be very helpful if we could specify what season we see the bird in, as the non-breeding plumage of a lot of birds is much different than their breeding plumage. We have probably seen 250 to 300 different birds, but currently only have about 188 on our life list. We have a very hard time, as do most beginner to average birders, trying to identify gulls, waders, sparrows, and warblers. Any tips that could be given in the description of the birds to help identify when seeing the bird in its natural habitat would be wonderful.
It would be nice to be able to produce a life list or custom list in
different formats, and importing from different formats. I talk to
people around the country on the internet that do not use a program for
keeping up with their sightings. It would be really nice to be able to
import their sightings so that I can study the birds that are known to
be in a certain area and be able to set up quizes to help me learn
them. I know that I can make my own lists from theirs, but it is quite
time consuming. Being able to have all of this information in one program and not having to switch between programs would make it much easier.
I am thrilled to see all of the new changes in v3.9. The Song ID is something I have longed for. I am half deaf and a lot of times cannot hear a bird, but my wife can. My wife knows less than I about birds, but is pretty good at remembering a birds song when she hears it. It is nearly impossible to go through all of the birds that a song might be.
