Download Additional Quizzes for v5.0.2 and Higher

In late July, 2009 version 5.0.2 was released. If you have version 5.0.0 you can click Help and then click Check for Updates to get this free update. [Do this twice -- Help-About will then show that you are running v5.0.2]

Once you are running v5.0.2 you can download additional quizzes. Some of these quizzes are free. We are also working with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and others to create extensive quizzes on foreign birds (with photos and sounds), reptiles and amphibians, butterflies, flowers and trees and much more. These will be available for purchase from the Online Nature Mall.

Free Quizzes (these will only work in version 5.0.2)

Presidents of the United States    

1. Click on the "Presidents of the United States" link above 
2. Click the Save button. Download the file called FreePresidents-Gold.zip to your Desktop.
3. Close this web browser.

4. Open your Guide to Birds of North America - Gold program version 5.0.2 or higher.
5. Click File (upper left corner of screen) and then click Import My Media Package.
6. Browse your desktop and select the zipped file called FreePresidents-Gold.zip. Click Open.
7. Wait for the box that says Import completed successfully. Click OK.

8. Double-click the blue Quizzes button.
9. Click the My Quizzes button and the US Presidents category will appear.
10. Click the plus sign in front of US Presidents to see the quizzes.
11. Select one of the two quizzes by double-clicking on the name. Click Next.
12. Then select the type of quiz you would like to run (we suggest Pick One). 
13. During setup elect to display Photo only (there are no sounds with this free quiz). 
14. During setup, in the Language section, if you select Common name you will see the president's name. If you select All, you will see the president's name and political party.

States and State Capitals

1. Click on the "States and State Capitals" link above 
2. Click the Save button. Download the file called FreeStates-Gold.zip to your Desktop.
3. Close this web browser.

4. Open your Guide to Birds of North America - Gold program version 5.0.2 or higher.
5. Click File (upper left corner of screen) and then click Import My Media Package.
6. Browse your desktop and select the zipped file called FreeStates-Gold.zip. Click Open.
7. Wait for the box that says Import completed successfully. Click OK.

8. Double-click the blue Quizzes button.
9. Click the My Quizzes button and the US States category will appear.
10. Click the plus sign in front of US States to see the quiz.
11. Select the quiz by double-clicking on the name. Click Next.
12. Then select the type of quiz you would like to run. 
13. During setup elect to display Photo only (there are no sounds with this free quiz). 
14. During setup, in the Language section, if you select Common name you will see the state name. If you select Alternate name you will see the state capital. If you select All you will see both the state name and the state capital.
