Just as we released version 3.5, Microsoft announced that they were going to release Vista within a year. We had no idea they were making such profound changes. It forced us (and virtually every other software manufacturer) to completely rewrite the program from the ground up in an entirely different operating code. The box for each version lists the Windows versions on which it will work. Hopefully, Microsoft will make sure their next major Windows update in 2010 is backwards compatible.
The v3.9 has an import feature (click File) for sightings and Custom lists from earlier versions. We recently released v3.9.5 -- this fixed a problem when folks tried to import a backup from v3.0.0.
We are not aware of any problems importing sightings from any versions starting with v3.0.0. If you are having a problem, please describe the error messages in detail and submit a Help Ticket at http://support.thayerbirding.com
