Hello,

I have the Guide to Birds of North America, version 3.5.  Under Baltimore oriole, the fifth photograph in sequence is labeled "Baltimore Oriole:  First spring female" (this is a photograph that has Tom Vezo's name on it -- though I do not know if he had anything to do with the label).  Several experienced birders on another forum, including me, agreed that this is a photograph of a female Orchard Oriole.  I would attach the photograph, but do not believe this is permitted under copyright laws.  I hope this can be corrected.

I agree. We will make this correction in the next update. Thanks!!

Both Tom Vezo and Kevin Karlson would have had some input on the label, but the final responsibility is totally on my shoulders.

It is far more likely that a number got messed up in the database and caused this error. Orchard Oriole is referred to in the database as 10052 and Baltimore Oriole is 10055. It would be very easy for me to type a 5 instead of a 2 for the last digit.

I guess that makes it 100% my fault.

Where is the forum where this is discussed? I would love to read what has been said.

Pete Thayer
