Check For Free Updates

Problem: How do I get a free update for my program?

Solution: Free software updates are availble for the three most recent versions of our software. To see the version number you have, open the program and click "Help" at the top of the screen. Then click "About this eField Guide..."

In Windows, to check for free updates for version 3.9 or version 5.0, simply open the program and click the word "Help" and then click on "Check for updates!"

You will need to do this twice. The second check usually takes much longer. If you own version 3.5, you can click here for the free update:  update to version 3.5.4

In Mac, to get this free update, open your birding program and click eViewer in the top Menu bar. Then click Check for Updates. When you see a message saying that updates are available, click Yes. Then when you see a message saying that updates have been downloaded from Thayer Birding Software, click Install. You will need to do this twice. (The second download takes much longer than the first. Please be aware that it will seem as if nothing is happening for 20 minutes - there is no indication that it is downloading. Please be very patient.) Click eViewer and then click About eViewer to make sure you have version 3.9.8.1 installed. The database version changes to v3.9.8.
