Problem: I have the program running all day in my store. How do I keep folks from closing the program?

Solution: When using the Thayer Birding Software program version 3.5, it is easy to disable the exit icon and the Microsoft X in the upper right corner. This is useful when a computer is running the birding program and will be left unattended in a public place, such as in a retail store or on a kiosk at a nature center.

Install the program and then right-click the desktop icon for the Thayer Birding program and select "Properties". In the Target line (or whichever line includes a path to the program) go to the end of the path where it says eViewer.exe"1. After the 1, insert a space and then enter  /noexit

Now the end of the line looks like this:  eViewereViewer.exe"1 /noexit

Click OK. That's all there is to it! Double-click the desktop icon to run the program. It is now impossible to exit the program using the normal icons.

In order to exit, go to the very bottom of the screen and right-click on the Task bar. Click "Task Manager". Then scroll down and find a program that is running called eviewer.exe

Highlight eviewer.exe and click the "End Process" button. You can also click on "Show the Desktop" on the Taskbar if you need to gain access to the desktop, but you do not want to close the birding program.
