v3.9 - Installing a Mac CD-ROM
Problem: The paper installation instructions accompanying the CD bear no resemblance to what happens on screen when I insert the CD. Let us start:
1. "Wait for "the Folder" to appear." No "Folder" appears. A CD entitled "eViewer 3.9" appears.
2. "Read the Installation Instructions.txt file." There is no such file on my IMac or if I click on the eViewer 3.9 CD.
3. "Double Click and Open eViewer.mpkg": If I double click on the eViewer 3.9 CD it opens to display 24 possible folders or icons. None of them read "eviewer.mpkg." If I click on most of them it advises me that there is no default application available to open them. Needless to say I cannot reach "Welcome to the eViewer installer." Please help!
Solution: For newer Mac computers, please follow these instructions:
1. Close all open programs
2. Place the CD disk in the CD drive (picture side up)
3. Wait 20-30 seconds for the Mac eViewer icon to appear on the screen
4. Double-click the eViewer icon.
5. Click on the file named "Installation Instructions.txt" and read it
6. Double-click on the file named eViewer.mpkg and then click continue
7. Follow the instructions on the "Welcome to the eViewer Installer"
8. The Raven Lite program will also install during the installation. When this has finished installing, the Thayer Birding installation will continue
9. When installation is complete, click Finder - Applications. Then click the arrow in front of Thayer Birding Software and then double-click eViewer
If the icon on your desktop just bounces up and down and nothing happens, you may need to download a free update from Mac 3.9.3 Update
