v5.0 - Can I Install someplace other than the C Drive?
Solution: The installation program for version 5.0 installs all supporting files (database, media, etc.) in the common application data location. On Windows XP, the default base folder location is the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data" folder. You will find the supporting files for the eField Guide Viewer application in the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Thayer Birding Software\eViewer 5.0" folder. This base folder is determined by the operating system and not the installation program.
All other application files (.exe, .dll, etc.) will be installed in the folder of your choice. This is the recommended practice for software installations on Windows. Unfortunately, this means you will still need quite a bit of disk space on your C: drive to install the application.
Tips for freeing up disk space:
Use Windows Disk Cleanup to remove unwanted files.
Double-click My Computer, right-click the icon for your C: drive, and choose Properties. Then click the Disk Cleanup button.
