v3.9 - I Cannot Hear Petey the Parrot - But I Hear Bird Songs
Problem: I'm running the 64-bit software on a 64-bit OS and machine, and my Petey bird has no voice. It's not my sound system because bird calls play just fine through my system. The bird behaves normally, and I can see his beak move, but no sound comes out. Can you please help?
Solution: [Petey the Parrot is only available in the Windows version of our software.] There are some rare cases where (for some unknown reason) the Microsoft Agent options are set to not play spoken audio. We originally were not providing a way of modifying those options because they are system wide settings, but due to this problem, the "Options..." button was added to the Petey's Sandbox screen.
To check to see if this is the cause of the problem for you, open Petey's Sandbox and click the "Options..." button. On the "Output" tab, make sure the "Play spoken audio" checkbox is checked. We are currently unaware of any other causes for this situation.
