Configuration system failed to initialize.
We had the Gold Edition installed and running fine on our computer for at least 4 weeks. One night when we were closing we accidentally cut off power from the computer before we closed down the computer properly. The next morning we started the computer, tried to open the Gold edition and immediately this error message popped up. The program does not allow us to do anything except exit out of it (the eField Guide viewer does not even start running). We have had both the Gold edition and the previous edition running side-by-side on the same computer with no apparent problems. I uninstalled the Gold edition and then re-installed it - this did not fix the problem, the error message came up immediately again.
Solution: It looks like the file that is used to keep track of window size and position has been corrupted. I would start by deleting the
"C:\Users\{your user name}\AppData\Local\Thayer_Birding_Software,_" folder and then trying to run the application. That folder and its contents will be regenerated the next time the application is run.
