Petey the Parrot Not Working in Windows 7

Problem: Some folks cannot use Petey's Sandbox on Windows 7 computers. Others see an error message that says: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application... Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID failed due to the following error 80040154.

Solution: Microsoft no longer supports the "Agents" like Petey, so we have tried to include enough code in our birding software to keep him running for a while longer! Most folks that loaded any disc labeled v3.9.8 or v5.0.2 or later should not have a problem. A few folks that are using Windows 7 have experienced problems -- but the "Hotfix" solves this.

When you click on this link, you will see this at the top of the page:

View and request Hotfix downloads

Click on the "View and request Hotfix downloads" link and then give Microsoft your email address. They will then send you the Hotfix. Unzip this and install it. This Hotfix is solving the problem virtually 100% of the time.
