Problem: I have questions about using the spectrogram in my Thayer Birding Software program. Who do I contact for an answer?

Solution: The right place to go for any answers about Raven Lite is the Cornell Lab web site. The web site is at:

The Raven Lite spectrogram is included in the Thayer Birding program as an additional tool for your use. It was not written by Thayer, but rather by the folks at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. They have kindly allowed us to include it as a free add-on in our birding program.

Raven Lite appears as a separate program in the Control Panel. When you open a Thayer Birding Software program and click on the word spectrogram, our software is merely "calling" the Raven Lite program to open. We pass Raven Lite the mp3 sound file and Raven Lite does the rest.

Make sure that your computer has the correct "path" to Raven Lite. In Windows, click on Tools in the Menu Bar and then click on Options... and then click on Spectrogram. The path is probably C:\Program Files\Raven Lite 1.0. If this is empty, or the path does not seem right to you, use the browse button to locate the Raven Lite 1.0 program.

You may purchase a more robust version of Raven at the Cornell Lab web site listed above.

Note:
We have discovered that many, many issues with the spectrogram and Raven Lite can be fixed by simply downloading the most recent version of iTunes and then restarting your computer. Once you download this file you will need to install it. When installing iTunes be sure you accept the most recent version of Quicktime as well. The download site for iTunes is www.apple.com/itunes/download
