New Features in Version 3.9 vs 3.1

• Version 3.9 is Vista compatible. It will also run on Windows XP and Windows 2000.
• Add your own comments, photos and web links for each bird
• Export songs and photos to your iPod in minutes
• State and Province CDs now include The Birder's Handbook
• New "Pick One" Quiz - see four photos at once
• Share Custom Lists with friends - a new Swap Forum is available
• ID Wizard - identify birds by sound
• New Look & Feel - color coded icons - much easier to use
• Registration is optional
• Zoomed photos fill the screen - and you can scroll through all photos for each bird
• All birds from the same family can now be seen at once - making comparisons easier
• View videos at 1x, 2x or 3x normal size
• The User's Manual has been revised and the Help file is easier to use
• Easier to use in school labs and on multiple account computers
• Your sightings & custom lists will automatically be copied into version 3.9
• State and province checklists have been updated.  20 to 100 additional species have been added to each state and province CD.
• As a result, the ID Wizard now shows more "common" birds for each location.
• Users can easily open multiple eField Guide tabs to see more than one species at a time. (Notice the tabs for four species at the top of the eField Guide in this link).
• Users can easily jump to the next species or the previous species -- as well as the first or last species on the list. (see the Species Selection section in this link).
• The taxonomic list has been updated to match the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) 47th supplement. The Blue Grouse has been split into Dusky Grouse and Sooty Grouse. Cackling Goose and Black-crested Titmouse have been added
• The buttons and links in the program have been updated so that they all now behave like a typical Windows installation. The mouse scroll wheel now behaves as expected in all parts of the program.
• Minor changes have been made throughout the program to make it easier and more intuitive to use.
• It is now much easier to see which filter you have turned on.
• The underlying code has been rewritten in .NET rather than VB6. (That's tech talk for "New and Improved")
• Birds of Canada has been added as a new title
